How to taste wine

We start somewhere with our wine journey, some of us just take keep it simple drink what you know, and call it a day. Some of us take to the major extremes and make a career out of drinking the stuff and telling everyone that they are doing it wrong. And there is a most of us all in between that. I may lean more on the extremist side, but I just never wanted to be that person, you know the jackass that spouts off things they were told that may or may not be true about wine. So knowing my shit is important. And in a lifetime I could never learn it all. Do I think people who enjoy wine should know at least a few things? Yes, So let’s go over a few tasting tools so you won’t be a tool.

Drinking wine is different than tasting wine. Drinking is pouring a glass at a party or sitting on the couch and binge watching Cobra Kai.

Tasting has techniques that can help you make a better assessment of wines to help you have a better understanding of your palate and you will be able to pick out wine more to your liking. This may or may not involve trying wines you normally do not choose for yourself. While during this discovery it is just as important to know what you like and what you don’t like. With that statement that means just because you tried one Pinot Noir, you haven't tried them all. What it really means is to know what flavors and sensations you like or dislike
